Major Structural Refurbishment & Extension

Set in the semi-rural, idyllic village of Potten End, just outside Berkhamsted, this project represents a remarkable transformation of a once dated cottage into a substantially larger family home.

The works involved approximately 90% demolition, extensive structural alterations, and underpinning. Colmec were appointed to deliver the complete structural shell, creating a new building envelope and internal structure that nearly tripled the size of the original property.

Due to budget considerations, the clients chose to manage and complete the interior themselves, drawing on their prior experience of overseeing previous hime projects. Our scope focused on the critical structural and external elements, ensuring a robust, precisely executed framework ready for the next stages of fit-out.

The result is a dramatically reimagined home, built on strong foundations and carefully engineered to support its ambitious scale and design.
